The Worshipful Company of Woolmen has invited all Freeman to join them at the Livery Fair and Sheep Drive on London Bridge Sunday 29 September. In medieval times, sheep farmers drove their sheep across London Bridge to sell them at market in the City of London.

Freemen of the City were excused the bridge toll in recognition of their status as local traders who proudly held the right to drive their sheep across London Bridge.

Over the last five years, the Worshipful Company of Woolmen has organised a Sheep Drive to celebrate Wool in the City and Sheep on the Bridge. This Year, Freemen and their friends can exercise that right once again. The celebrity guest, The Rt Hon Michael Portillo, will accompany the Lord Mayor of London and the Sheriffs in making the first Sheep Drive in the morning. There is a wide choice of times for Freeman to take a group of sheep across the bridge but the most popular slots book up very quickly. Or email
